Waste collection points Amby

The Municipality of Maastricht is introducing a new way of collecting waste. In Amby, this means installing waste collection points with underground containers for residual waste. This page explains what this means for Amby.

If you would like to understand how the system works across the city first, visit the page Waste collection points in Maastricht first.

Where could waste collection points be installed in Amby?

The municipality has looked into which locations in Amby may be suitable for a waste collection point. At the information meeting on 21 May 2026, we showed you the proposed locations and asked for your opinions. You could also share your feedback online.

Some questions were raised during the meeting and through the online form. You can read the answers on the page Waste collection points in Maastricht.

The proposed locations are shown on the map below. These locations are not final yet.

What did we do with your feedback?

We have collected, read and reviewed all of your reactions and comments. We will take your feedback and the results of our research into account when choosing the final locations.

In September 2026, the municipal executive will decide where the waste collection points in Nazareth will be placed. After that, we will publish the final locations on this page. We will also explain why some suggestions were or were not included.

If you disagree with the decision, you can lodge an objection. Once the municipal executive has made its decision, this page will explain how to do this and by when.

When will the waste collection points be installed in Amby?

Amby is one of the first neighbourhoods where waste collection points will be installed. The expected timeline is:

  • 21 May 2026: information session and residents’ feedback
  • 15 September 2026: locations confirmed
  • Autumn 2026: first waste collection points installed

If you live in Amby, you will be informed in advance.

What does this mean for you?

Once the waste collection points have been installed:

  • the red-and-white residual waste bag will be phased out
  • you will use an underground container in your neighbourhood for your residual waste
  • you will open the container using your plastic waste disposal pass

Do you live in a flat or apartment building? Between October and December this year, containers for vegetable, fruit and food waste (gfe) will be added alongside the residual waste containers.
