Arts and culture bring creativity, connection and energy to our city. Think of neighbourhood art projects, workshops, exhibitions or performances in public spaces – whether on a square, in a school or at a care home. Art and culture open our eyes, challenge our thinking and lift our spirits.

If you have an idea for a cultural activity, and you're working alone or as a group without a formal organisation, this is the right theme for you. If it's an idea by or for an association or club, please submit your idea under the theme Community associations.

How will your idea help make Maastricht an even more vibrant cultural city?

Stronger together 

Getting along well with others is important. It is a wonderful thing to be able to mean something to someone else. To look after each other and help each other when needed. By working together and listening to one another. You might want to organise activities that bring people in a neighbourhood together, so they feel less alone. Or you could offer a first aid workshop.

What’s your idea for building a community where everyone feels welcome and valued?

Greening the city 

A green environment is good for your health. It also helps reduce heat and flooding. To make a neighbourhood greener, we could create community gardens or sensory gardens, for example. Small front garden strips, bee hotels or extra trees also fit this theme. So do plants or flowers beside parking spaces. How would you like to make Maastricht greener and help improve the happiness and health of people and animals?

Sport and physical activity 

Being active is important for everyone – young and old. Sport, outdoor play and physical activity are great for our health and our social lives. Your idea could be anything from creating a playground for toddlers to organising sporting activities for teenagers or sports games for all ages. If it's an idea by or for an association or club, please submit your project plan under the theme Community associations.

What’s your plan to get your neighbourhood moving?

Community associations 

This theme is for formal associations with a social or community focus. If you’re part of a foundation or an informal club, please submit your idea under one of the other themes.

This could include sports clubs, such as swimming, football, boules or walking clubs. ‘Green’ associations such as allotment or nature groups are also eligible. Local heritage groups, neighbourhood associations, associations for older people or another specific group can take part too, as can cultural associations, such as theatre, dance or music groups.
