2001. Special day to support people with head and neck tumours

This group is asking for funds for a special day to support people with head and neck cancer. This event will be held at Buitenplaats Vaeshartelt where, attending alone or with their partner, participants will be treated to food and beverages and can go on a walk. The aim is to meet and share experiences, feel supported and combat loneliness. It is also a way to show them they are welcome at hospitality businesses despite their difficulty with eating or drinking, so they can enjoy and feel they belong, without shame.

Update

The peer support day for people affected by head and neck cancer, held at Buitenplaats Vaeshartelt on 4 June 2026, was a great success. Around 55 people attended.

The event gave people affected by head and neck cancer plenty of opportunity to meet others, connect and share their experiences. In a warm and welcoming setting, participants were able to talk openly and find support in one another. Manon Fokke, a member of the municipal executive, also attended. Her involvement was greatly appreciated.

Participants could join a walk if they wished, and there was also a creative activity. Representatives from the Toon Hermans Huis, the Head and Neck Cancer Patients’ Association and Maastro were present as well.
